Schwab ETFs Debut Commission-Free For Its Customers

Although it has more in registration, on Nov. 3, Charles Schwab launched its first four exchange-traded funds: the Schwab U.S. Broad Market ETF (NYSEArca: SCHB), Schwab U.S. Large-Cap ETF (NYSEArca: SCHX), Schwab U.S. Small-Cap ETF (NYSEArca: SCHA) and Schwab International Equity ETF (NYSEArca: SCHF). The domestic funds track indexes from Dow Jones, while SCHF is tied to the FTSE Developed ex-US Index. Not only are the new Schwab funds priced more cheaply than their competitors, they also are commission-free for investors trading them in Schwab accounts.

TXF Tracks Texas-Based Companies

OOK Advisors LLC quickly followed up the rollout of OOK (NYSEArca: OOK), the world’s first state-specific ETF, with the launch on Nov. 4 of the TXF Large Companies ETF (NYSEArca: TXF); TXF tracks the SPADE Texas Index of the state’s largest publically traded companies. At launch, the fund held 87 different stocks. TXF comes with an annual expense ratio of 0.85 percent.

Pimco Launches FIVZ, ZROZ

Pimco’s newest bond ETFs began trading on Nov. 2. They had listed a week before, but Pimco did not officially launch the Pimco 3-7 Year U.S. Treasury Index Fund (NYSEArca: FIVZ) and the Pimco 25+ Year Zero Coupon U.S. Treasury Index Fund (NYSEArca: ZROZ) right away. FIVZ tracks the Merrill Lynch 3-7 Year U.S. Treasury Index, while ZROZ reflects the performance of the BofA Merrill Lynch Long Treasury Principal STRIPS Index. Both come with a price tag of 15 basis points.
